Lock up trailer theft

If you have a box trailer, boat, caravan or horse float, what security measures are you taking to keep your property safe and prevent it from being stolen?

There are a number of anti-theft locking devices you can choose from, so please visit your local auto retailer, hardware store or specialised trailer shops to purchase a suitable lock.

Since January 1, police have received information relating to alleged trailer thefts in the following areas:

  • Jamieson Street, Bundaberg East: Between 12pm and 2pm on April 12 a 2016 Maxim trailer, QLD 517UCV was allegedly stolen. QP1700645844
  • Cottell Street, Bundaberg North: Between 12pm on April 10 and 12.30pm on April 17 a 2011 domestic box trailer, QLD CX3179 was allegedly stolen. QP1700674305
  • Rosedale Road, Avondale: Between 6.30pm on April 6 and 11.30am on April 7 a 1998 travelling trailer QLDBG7452 was allegedly stolen. QP1700613567
  • Old Creek Road, Childers: Between 6pm on March 8 and 5am on March 12 a 2006 homemade trailer, QLDCJ5451 was allegedly stolen. The trailer was located on March 16 in Dowlings Road, Apple Tree Creek. QP1700475466
  • Clarkes Road, North Isis: Between 6pm on January 23 and 6:30am on January 24 a 1987 domestic box trailer, QLD AI5508 was allegedly stolen. QP1700141062
  • Alex Walker Road, Alloway: Between 12.01am on January 10 and 6pm on January 15 an unregistered domestic box trailer was allegedly stolen. The trailer has since been located. QP1700088744

On March 3, a 24-year-old Gladstone Central man with charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicles aircraft or vessels and stealing, in relation to a trailer theft from Takalvan Street, Bundaberg West. The man is scheduled to appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court on June 6.
