The working week will soon finish for some and often we hear the phrase, let’s go out for Friday drinks.
What does that mean for policing?
It’s a time when yes, you will see marked and unmarked police vehicles patrolling the streets, officers conducting RBT’s and attending addresses to investigate offences, conduct welfare checks or follow up on warrants.
Between March 1 and March 14, Friday was our third busiest day of the week attending to occurrences.
What days do you think came in first and second?
It may surprise you that Tuesday came in at first place, followed by Monday.
With regards to drink and drug driving related offences during the same time frame, Thursday and Friday tied for second place and Saturday held first place.
Times drivers were allegedly committing these offences were:
Friday
- 2 offences between 4:00pm and 8:00pm
- 2 offences between 8:00pm and 12 midnight
Saturday
- 2 offences between midnight and 4:00am
- 3 offences between 4:00pm and 8:00pm
- 4 offences between 8:00pm and 12 midnight
Please remember to think before you drink and choose to arrange a safe method of transport home.
