Is your vehicle locked up now?
Create a little jingle you can sing or say each time you leave your car as a reminder to lock it up.
Bundaberg Patrol Group are receiving an increase in crime reports relating to:
- Unlawful entry to motor vehicles resulting in property being stolen
- Stolen motor vehicles, including motorbikes, quad bikes
- Stolen number plates
- Stolen light bars
Most car thefts are opportunistic, so to reduce the risk of having your car stolen or broken into, you can adopt some simple vehicle and key security habits.
- Always lock your vehicle, including the boot and sun roof and remember to fully close the windows.
- Keep spare keys with you and away from the vehicle – thieves know where to look.
- When parking in a garage, ensure both the garage and vehicle are locked and the garage door remotes are secured.
- Use lockable devices such as lockable fuel caps, wheel nuts, spare tyre covers, roof racks.
- Remove keys from the ignition if your vehicle is parked or unattended – even if only for a minute.
There are a number of local auto and warehouse retailers who stock a variety of light bar and number plate locks.
Take the time to visit and check out the range. The products are easy for purchasers to attach and staff can assist where needed.
