Maintenance is something we often associate with homes, equipment and vehicles.
Bicycles also need to be maintained to ensure the bike will be fit for its purpose.
Bundaberg Mad Cycologists head out each week on rides of various distances and maintain their bikes regularly.
Constable Jamie McCarthy joined the group on Sunday, February 21 for a 32km ride on a police bicycle. Within Bundaberg Patrol Group we have a number of bike squad officers who at different times use the bikes to patrol suburban streets, schools and beach areas.
There are some quick maintenance checks each cyclist or rider can do each time they are going for a ride and others that can be completed weekly or monthly.
You can find out more information about bicycle maintenance including the checklist to print out and place in your garage or bike storage area here.
Consider contacting your local bike shop mechanic for half yearly or annual maintenance checks.
