Sergeant Don Roseby, Officer in Charge at Eidsvold police station, reminds all road users that police will continue to conduct traffic enforcement to ensure the safety of everyone in the Eidsvold community.
Why? Since July this year there have been four people charged with drink driving offences in the Eidsvold police division.
Not surprisingly, two of these people were involved in crashes and two were also unlicensed at the time of driving.
The majority of the readings returned were quite high, and in a small town, police find this to be appalling and concerning that people are placing so little value and respect for their own safety, the safety of other road users, members of the public, and the privilege of having their drivers licence.
A reminder worth repeating…
If you drink, do not drive. Repeat
If you drink, do not drive. Repeat
If you drink, do not drive.
Consider the following options:
- Plan ahead and arrange for an alternative place to stay
- Have a sober and licensed person drive
- If you live in town, perhaps walk safely. Eidsvold is not that big.
If you are charged with drink driving, you can expect to lose your licence for a period of time, which can have a negative effect on your employment, social life and family.
The legal limit for drink driving in QLD is under 0.05% for holders of open licences and zero alcohol for learners and P platers. Further laws are in place for drivers of commercial vehicles.
Did you know?
If you are supervising a learner driver and the vehicle you are in is intercepted by police for a random breath test, you can also be breath tested and charged if you go over the legal limit.
