School Based Police Officers speak up for road safety

Senior Constable Mark Cartner and Senior Constable Julie Jones are our School Based Police Officers working with secondary students, teachers and school communities in local high schools. Requests are frequently received for police to deliver road safety talks to all ages and Senior Constable Mark is sharing his important message this week, “Drive safe people”.

Today our road safety focus is on sharing the road with others. A number of local schools will receive a visit today from police and we invite parents, students, Principals, teachers and support staff to speak up for road safety. Something to think about…

• Ensure your vehicle is properly maintained and safe to drive or ride.
• Know and follow the road rules so you can share the road by driving courteously and patiently.
• Look out for pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and trucks, giving other road users the space they need.
