Wake up! Today’s road safety focus is covering fatigue and we’re also singing out about restraints, more commonly known as seatbelts.
It’s always a fun time when police visit local kindergartens, child care centres and schools and yesterday children and parents from C & K Forestview Community Kindergarten sang us the perfect song, ‘I’m a little seat belt’. The children, parents and teachers were travelling on a bus wearing seatbelts of course, being detectives and searching for their lost green sheep. He wasn’t with us, so our clue was to go to our community helper friends at the Ambulance station.
What messages can you speak up about? To help you out here are some suggestions…
- When travelling, remember to wake up to fatigue and rest every two hours for at least 15 minutes. Stretch the legs, go for a short walk and breathe in the fresh air.
- After a hard days work, take comfort and relax on the couch, not the road. 10 hours a day is the maximum you should drive.
- No matter how short your journey is, always wear your seatbelt and make sure children are always correctly restrained.
- Remember, the driver is responsible for all passengers buckling up.
Bundaberg Patrol Group officers issued traffic infringement notices for the following seat belt offences between 6:00am July 1 and 6:00pm August 10.
- 5 x Driver fail to wear seatbelt
