Over the weekend, two schools were targeted in the Moore Park Beach and Bundaberg North areas with break and enter and wilful damage offences.
Police received reports of one of the school canteens broken into via the roller door and fly screens thrown around the oval along with other property damage.
Another school reported a number of rooms accessed resulting in a large amount of damage internally such as cupboard doors ripped off, smashed glassware and gas turned on.
With only a week left before school holidays begin, it is a timely reminder to residents living in the area of our local schools to be on ‘school watch‘.
The School Watch program is a partnership between the Department of Education and the Queensland Police Service (Protective Services Group) which aims to reduce criminal activity in schools and encourages everyone to look out for after-hours crime in our schools.
If you see anything suspicious, please don’t attempt to intervene. Instead, call the School Watch number on 13 17 88.
If you see a crime in progress, call Triple Zero (000).
