School children in the Eidsvold area were rewarded for their responsible and positive behaviour last week with a special visit by Police Dog Cluedo.

Cluedo started his trip to Eidsvold on Wednesday with a visit to the local kindergarten with Sergeant Geoff Price, who read two books to the students (Mike the police motorcycle and Paul the police car).

Cluedo was impressed that all the children knew the Triple Zero (000) emergency number and were engaged in learning about safe behaviour.

After posing for photos, he was given a hero’s send off in the police car.

On Thursday, Cluedo accompanied Sergeant Price to Abercorn School to meet the students, attend parade and pose for a few photos.

Cluedo presented the weekly awards and was impressed with the excellent work the students are doing.

On Friday, Cluedo finished his road trip by attending the NAIDOC Week celebration at Eidsvold School, where he was again mobbed by the students all wanting a photo with him.

The NAIDOC event included visits from local emergency services, a culture cafe, various arts and crafts and live music, as well as a great performance of indigenous dancing by the school’s dance group.

Sergeant Price said the event was enthusiastically supported by the local community and showed the great unity and community strength in Eidsvold.

“It’s great for the children to be able to meet Cluedo and I want to thank the staff at the kindy and schools for assisting with his visit,” he said.

“This is another way to engage and continue the strong relationship the Eidsvold Police have with the local children.

“Hopefully, we can get him back out here again soon.”

Sergeant Price also acknowledged the fantastic effort from the staff and Eidsvold community in organising and supporting NAIDOC Week.

“These events bring the entire community together and Preston Parter (principal) and his team at Eidsvold School are leading the way, not just in Eidsvold but the greater area, in showing how we can all work together to better ourselves and our communities,” he said.

The support from the local community and neighbouring schools (Abercorn and Boynewood) was fantastic and it’s great to have everyone come together to celebrate our First Nations community members.
