Last night, police from around the Bundaberg Patrol Group participated in a virtual candle lighting ceremony hosted by DV Connect.
The livestream started with a candle lighting and then a minute’s silence for those that have lost their lives to domestic and family violence.
“It is important for us to show our support and acknowledgement of all those impacted by domestic and family violence,” Inspector Vogler said.
Police want to take this opportunity to remind the community that despite the current restrictions in place due to COVID-19, this does not impact Domestic Violence organisations around town.
Acting Sergeant Darlene Webb from the Vulnerable Persons Unit said, “The reporting mechanisms and support services are all still currently open and available for anyone seeking assistance for domestic violence”.
Further to this, if you are a victim of domestic violence and are finding it difficult to report an incident by attending a police station there is the option of reporting online discreetly.
The Queensland Police Service website allows domestic and family violence victims to make contact about non-urgent domestic and family violence if needed.
Please call Triple Zero (000) if it’s happening right now or someone is in immediate danger.
