The Bundaberg Patrol Group want to introduce you to our new Police Liaison Officer (PLO) Edyta Gradowska, better known as ‘Edy’. You can recognise her by the yellow PLO shoulder epaulettes!

Edy was born in Poland and came to Australia in 2013 to join her family.

For the past six years, Edy has worked as a multicultural community worker and registered migration agent with communities across the Bundaberg region.

New PLO Edy Gradowska

What does your job entail?

My role as PLO is to work alongside my community to promote trust between culturally specific communities and the Queensland Police Service (QPS), assist in development crime prevention strategies and improve the community access to policing services.

My aim is to liaise closely with local multicultural groups, organisations and community leaders to develop strategies to address any law and order issues identified by communities and police officers as well as advise police officers on different cultural issues and protocols.

What do you like most about your job?

Definitely the variety of people I meet with and ability to assist vulnerable members of community.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I enjoy travelling, going for long walks in our beautiful Bundaberg region, meeting new people and learning about their stories.

What’s a fun fact about you that many people may not know?

My household is very multicultural and each person speaks a different language as their mother-tongue, so we have developed our ‘own language’. If you hear me speaking to my family – I may use Polish, Arabic and English all in one sentence!
