Each morning when I start work I check to see what crime reports have occurred over the past 24 hours.
This morning when I checked, the most recent occurrences were seven domestic violence incidents.
Further checks revealed that since January 14, police across Bundaberg Patrol Group have responded to 30 domestic violence incidents in three days.
These incidents all need to be investigated and as a result police may be dealing with people who:
- Have contravened an order;
- Are in need of protection and an application for an order is made;
- May have had a disagreement, although don’t fit the relationship criteria for domestic violence; or
- Have other action taken at the time police are investigating.
Hot weather and hot tempers certainly don’t mix well. It’s time to remember to walk away and cool down.
If you or a family member are experiencing family violence, a life is being threatened or there’s an emergency please call police on Triple Zero (000).
