Domestic and family violence not in the festive spirit

While many individuals, couples and families have been celebrating and enjoying the Christmas and New Year festivities, Bundaberg Patrol Group officers have responded to many who have not.

Not now, not ever relates to stopping domestic and family violence.

It is unacceptable behaviour and violence that will not be tolerated.

As I type this post, I have seen that between December 24 and today, my colleagues have responded to over 115 Domestic and Family Violence incidents in eleven days.

  • Kolonga
  • Millbank
  • Moolboolaman
  • Moore Park Beach
  • Norville
  • Oakwood
  • Redridge
  • Rubyanna
  • Svensson Heights
  • Thabeban
  • Walkervale
  • Woodgate
  • Yandaran

Some matters have been reported to police days after alleged incidents occurred.

There are still a number of hours left in today, with police responding to eight reports so far.

Police investigate all domestic and family violence incidents reported in an effort to protect life and property. Investigations may reveal that no Domestic and Family Violence has occurred.

Police are dealing with people from all walks of life including those who may be affected by alcohol or drugs at the time.

Criminal offences including assaults and wilful damage may also be investigated.
