For those who may have missed attending events, perhaps you listened to the road safety messages about distractions, speeding, fatigue, restraints (seatbelts), sharing the road and drink and drug driving.

Special thanks to our local radio stations at ABC and Bundaberg Broadcasters for their support and sharing these messages at different times throughout the day.

Remember to visit our myPolice Bundaberg blog, local print, radio and television stations online to find out more about their involvement during Queensland Road Safety Week.

Queensland Road Safety Week was full of proactive and operational policing, ranging from community engagement events, speed detection training and enforcement operations.

There are a number of organisations, media groups and people who were involved, so on behalf of Bundaberg Patrol Group and Transport and Main Roads colleagues, thank you to everyone who has participated and assisted us in highlighting the “My road toll” theme and key road safety issues we continually focus on.

Our front line officers enforced road safety during the week with the following outcomes:

  • almost 2000 Roadside Breath Tests (RBTs)
  • 243 x speed related infringements
  • 6 x mobile phone infringements
  • 5 x fail to wear seat belt infringements

 Drink Driving:  3 detections

  • 1 x 0.10 and under 0.15
  • 2 x 0.05 and under

The latest intercept and detection occurred on August 26 at approximately 7:00pm on Quay Street, Bundaberg Central and involved a 53-year-old Moore Park Beach man. The man is scheduled to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on September 16 in relation to a drink driving charge where it is alleged he was over the general alcohol limit but not over the middle alcohol limit.

Drug Driving:  11 detections

The latest intercept and detection occurred on August 26 at approximately 10:20pm on Queen Street, Bundaberg North and involved a 29-year-old Rosedale man. The man is scheduled to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on October 6.

Students from Bundaberg East State School helped decorate our station with their colourful images of “Road safety in my town”.
