On Thursday, June 30 police from Bundaberg and Childers were assisting Hervey Bay Water Police in educating the community on compliance/safety checks on all boats. This involved police being out on the Burnett River in a marked vessel patrolling and engaging all persons on the water at the time.
Throughout the day police issued multiple marine warnings which included:
- Master fail to ensure capacity label attached
- Disobey no wash
- Master fail to have sufficient safety equipment as required by regulation
Police are reminding all persons using vessels that they must affix a registration label to their vessel.
Police are also reminding all avid boaties to ensure their vessels are currently registered and they have the required safety equipment on board and that it complies with regulation.
