RSOA Field Trip April 2016

Field Trips conducted in April 2016

They can be avoided quite easily if everyone followed the road rules and were observant and focused when driving and parking.

Today there’ll be some extra eyes on the streets of Bundaberg as Year 10 students from Bundaberg State High School participate as Road Safety Observers with local driving instructors.

Three student groups will provide feedback as a follow up to the Bundaberg PCYC and Bundaberg Patrol Group program, which was held during the Easter school holidays.

Field trips are planned where students are passengers and observe a number of locations where traffic infringements have previously occurred. The students gain an understanding as to what occurred, the ages and gender of drivers, licence types held and consequences.

Year 10s are our future drivers and they can offer suggestions which may help remedy these situations and also realise why police conduct traffic enforcement. Student input is valuable and is collated and shared at quarterly traffic advisory committee meetings.

Road safety is everyone’s responsibility and this program is a great way to introduce future drivers to understand their local area and network with road safety advocates from different professions.

This initiative is funded by the Queensland Government Community Road Safety Grants Program.
