Motorists travelling along the Bruce Highway yesterday at the intersection of Tessellaris Trail, Takilberan, 23 kilometres north of Gin Gin would have been stopped as part of a Wide Bay Burnett District traffic operation.
Gin Gin police Officer in Charge, Sergeant Tim Marrinan coordinated the operation and was supported by teams of officers from within the district, Road Policing Command, Brisbane Drug Detection drugs and a partnership with Transport and Main Roads Vehicle Inspection officers.
Thanks also goes to our SES workers and volunteers who help set up and assist with meal preparation for officers working throughout the 12-hour operation.

The operation results included:
- More than 2800 Roadside Breath Tests
- 92 x Roadside Drug Saliva Tests
- 51 x Traffic Infringement Notices of which 28 related to Heavy Vehicles
Notices To Appear in Court were issued for:
- 1 x Drink Drive
- 6 x Drug Drive
- 2 x Unlicensed drive, which included 1 x Impound/Forfeiture
- 1 x Disqualified Drive
- 1 x False and misleading information
- 4 x Excess hours
- 1 x Insufficient rest
- 3 x Possess Dangerous Drug
- 1 x Trafficking Dangerous Drug
- 4 x Possess Utensils
Over 300 heavy vehicle intercepts occurred with Penalty Infringement Notices issued by Queensland Transport officers for:
- 1 x Minor defect
- 2 x Dimension offences
- 1 x Fatigue
Court matters included:
- 1 x Fatigue
- 1 x Dimension
- 2 x Prohibitions
