This is a great safety message from Cluedo our Adopt a Cop mascot and the message relates to all ages.
Since 6:00am on January 1 and 6:00am on February 15, Bundaberg Patrol Group officers have issued a Traffic Infringement Notice to twelve cyclists for failing to wear a helmet when riding their bicycle.
The consequence is $117 and a reminder that in Queensland it’s the law to wear an approved helmet fastened correctly when riding a bicycle.
Other helmet related infringements are:
- Bicycle passenger fail to wear bicycle helmet unless exempt – consequence $117
- Ride bicycle with passenger on a bicycle not wearing an approved helmet – consequence $117
Wearing a helmet is such an easy thing to do and they help save lives.
Helmets can be purchased at several local bicycle shops and also larger retail stores.
When choosing a helmet always ensure it’s the correct size and meets Australian standard 2063.
