Where’s yours? Credit and debit cards are convenient for consumers to use at self serve checkouts and face to face service. Technology is advancing and PayWave is available at a large number of retailers. Again, people feel safe using this as pin numbers are not needed for transactions under a certain amount.
This convenience is compromised when someone comes along and steals your card. It may be because you dropped it, were distracted after paying or because someone stole your wallet or handbag.
Colleagues across the state have been raising awareness about credit card fraud in their areas and we’d like to share the message with you too. Bundaberg Patrol Group officers have investigated and solved a number of offences for fraud involving bank cards and credit cards where unauthorised transactions were made this financial year. Investigations are also ongoing and here is a list of retail areas where offences have occurred.
