Unexpected things happen when you least expect them, and when it’s a happy moment, it’s exciting. When it’s a medical condition like Multiple Sclerosis (MS) that is out of your control, then it can become a challenging time for the individual, family, friends and work colleagues. It’s also a time when strength, courage and determination to fight the condition of MS shine through. At times though, that strength needs additional support from communities near and far.
Last week our local media shared a personal story about Fiona Ward, a daughter, wife, mum of three and friend to many. Fiona had to sadly leave her policing duties in 2013, where she was last stationed here at Bundaberg. Fiona’s policing career journey commenced in 1999 as a recruit at the Police Service Academy, Oxley. From there, Fiona worked as a General Duties officer at Whitsunday, Bundaberg, Mount Isa and Yeppoon; before returning to Bundaberg in 2010, to join the Prosecutions team. Fiona has the MS diagnosis and needs your support to help her get to Mexico for treatment to fight the MS monster.
