The month of July has seen an increase in registration plate thefts in the Bundaberg Patrol Group.
Both vehicles and motorcycles have been targeted in Bundaberg Central, Svensson Heights, Bundaberg North, Millbank, Burnett Heads and Apple Tree Creek areas.
Since July 1 there has been six registration plate thefts reported.
Police are urging vehicle owners to secure their plates to vehicles using anti-theft one way screws.
Bundaberg Police are offering FREE anti-theft one screws to all the community.
These screws can be obtained from the Bundaberg Police Station during business hours.
Alternately, one way screws can be purchased at selected hardware stores, automotive retailers or online.
One way anti-theft number plate screws are made to fit all makes and models of vehicles.
Police also recommend where possible, use off street parking or secured parking in a lockable garage to decrease the chances of registration plates being stolen.
Stolen registration plates have been known to be used to commit further offences such as fuel drive offs, stolen vehicles, toll evasions and property offences.
Turn the screws on crime and get some one way screws to secure your number plates.
