Police across Bundaberg Patrol Group wish to advise you about an issue in your local area that is of concern to us and your neighbourhood.
Stealing from homes and vehicles is happening throughout Bundaberg and our divisional areas in Bargara, Childers, Eidsvold, Gin Gin, Monto, Mount Perry and South Kolan. Thieves are currently taking small items of property, in particular wallets, electronic devices and any small valuable items left in a conspicuous place in your home.
Reduce the risks of becoming a victim with these simple hints.
- Lock up every time – Even if you are home, keep unattended doors and windows key locked or shut. Lock your vehicle whenever it is left unattended.
- Remove valuables on show – Keep your valuables secure and remove wallets, handbags, car keys, computers and jewellery from the view of others, including at home or in the vehicle.
- Engrave your property – This makes your property difficult to sell and makes it easier for police to return your property if found. Keep a list of serial numbers and photograph valuables that can’t be engraved. There are a number of apps available to assist you.
- Don’t give burglars a place to hide – Offenders are less likely to target a home if they think they can be seen, so trim garden trees and shrubs.
- Report anything suspicious – Keep a look out for suspicious behaviour and if in doubt contact your local police. Report all crimes as soon as possible, no matter how small as they may be part of a bigger problem. On the move? That’s ok as you can download and find out more about our Policelink app here.
