Speeding: 136 motorists were issued traffic infringement notices for speeding related offences.

Disappointingly we’ve seen a young driver allegedly involved in a high end speed related offence. A 17-year-old Bundaberg North man was intercepted by police from Bundaberg Road Policing Unit at around 11pm on July 6. The man was travelling at an alleged speed of 147km/h in an 80km/h zone along Childers Road, Kensington. Consequences for the man include a $1177 Traffic Infringement Notice, six month licence suspension and eight demerit points.

Drink driving: Three people were charged for returning alleged readings of between 0.05 and 0.10 per cent BAC.

Drug driving: The most recent offence allegedly occurred at around 10.35am on July 8 along Horseshoe Drive, Kensington. A 35-year-old Kensington man was issued a Notice to Appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on July 13 in relation to driving while a relevant drug was present in saliva charge.

Seat belt: One driver was issued a traffic infringement notice for failing to wear a seatbelt. Three passengers were found to be unrestrained, including a child between six months old and four years, a child between four years old and seven years old and a 16-year-old or older passenger.

Mobile phone: One driver was issued a traffic infringement notice for using a hand-held mobile phone.

Other traffic infringements related to:

  • 8 x Fail to stop at STOP sign at intersection
  • 2 x Fail to stop at red traffic light
  • 1 x Fail to stop at red traffic arrow
  • 4 x Make U-turn at intersection controlled by traffic lights (no sign)

Please remember we’re now in Back to School routine, so school zones need to be observed as they are in operation.
