Let’s change the way we look at speed

Speeding is a well known contributing factor to the Fatal Five and these holidays police across Bundaberg Patrol Group are actively enforcing traffic offences.

Please slow down and join the drive to save lives in the interests of road safety for everyone.

Here is a snapshot of some speeding offences where Traffic Infringement Notices were issued between 6am and 2pm today:

April 4

  • At around 12.10pm a 32-year-old Gooburrum man was intercepted by police on Fitzgerald Street, Norville for travelling at an alleged speed of 71km/h in a 60km/h zone. Consequence = $162 and one demerit point.
  • At around 11.25am a 60-year-old Bristol GBR man was intercepted by police on the Bruce Highway, Isis Central for travelling at an alleged speed of 123km/h in a 100km/h zone. Consequence = $406 and four demerit points.
  • At around 11.00am a 52-year-old Wishart man was intercepted by police on Bundaberg Ring Road, Ashfield for travelling at an alleged speed of 90km/h in an 80km/h zone. Consequence = $162 and one demerit point.
  • At around 9.55am a 31-year-old Urraween woman was intercepted by police on the Bruce Highway, Apple Tree Creek for travelling at an alleged speed of 100km/h in a 70km/h zone. Consequence = $406 and four demerit points.
  • At around 9.15am a 66-year-old Sherwood man was intercepted by police on Bundaberg Ring Road, Woongarra for travelling at an alleged speed of 89km/h in an 80km/h zone. Consequence = $162 and one demerit point.
  • At around 9.10am a 62-year-old Mount Morgan man was intercepted by police on the Bruce Highway, Monduran for travelling at an alleged speed of 112km/h in a 100km/h zone. Consequence = $162 and one demerit point.
  • At around 7.45am a 23-year-old Kin Kora woman was intercepted by police on the Bruce Highway, Monduran for travelling at an alleged speed of 112km/h in a 100km/h zone. Consequence = $162 and one demerit point.
  • At around 7.25am a 50-year-old Biloela man was intercepted by police on the Bruce Highway, Damascus for travelling at an alleged speed of 120km/h in a 100km/h zone. Consequence = $243 and three demerit points.
  • At around 6.45am a 20-year-old Wallaville man was intercepted by police on Gin Gin Road, Sharon for travelling at an alleged speed of 120km/h in a 100km/h zone. Consequence = $243 and three demerit points.

It’s hoped that sharing this information will encourage you to slow down and realise that police have potentially saved the lives of these nine motorists, in addition to passengers and other road users.

Speed signs indicate the maximum speed to travel at, so please stick to it and ensure you don’t go over.
