Police across Bundaberg Patrol Group were out patrolling a number of our school zones this morning and yes, traffic infringement notices were issued.
At around 7.50am a 54-year-old Bundaberg North man was intercepted by police on Maryborough Street, Bundaberg South for travelling at an alleged speed of 52km/h in a 40km/h school zone. Consequence = $162 and one demerit point.
At around 8.35am a 35-year-old Norville man was intercepted by police on McCarthy Road, Thabeban for travelling at an alleged speed of 60km/h in a 40km/h school zone. Consequence = $243 and three demerit points.
Two motorists in Gin Gin each received a $48 Traffic Infringement Notice for stop contrary to continuous yellow edge line, due to where they allegedly parked.
Five other motorists were intercepted for speeding in school zones along George Street, Bundaberg South and McCarthy Road, Thabeban.
We do thank motorists and road users who have obeyed the road rules and ensured that students and teachers can make it to their playgrounds and classrooms safely.
