It’s hot, hot, hot

Ho, ho, ho will be heard very soon for the Christmas spirit and maybe a special Santa visit, although we also know it’s hot, hot, hot!

Hot weather affects many, so this holiday period please take the time to:

  • Check on elderly family members and neighbours. A quick phone call or visit may be a cheerful surprise if you won’t see them on Christmas day and a chance to ensure the elderly are hydrated and keeping themselves and their homes cool.
  • Remember pets also feel the effects of hot weather, so keep them hydrated and not left in the car while you stop to buy something for a Christmas gift or the Boxing day sales.
  • Never leave children alone in a car. The temperature inside your car can reach lethal levels in just 15 minutes.
  • Keep your body parts inside your car when travelling. A 55-year-old Norville man was issued a Traffic Infringement Notice on December 21 at around 7.30am on Childers Road, Elliott for travel in motor vehicle with part of body outside window or door.
  • Get ready and be prepared for any natural disasters which may occur. RACQ Get Ready Queensland tips and information on storms, cyclone, flood, heatwave and many more topics can be found here.

Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.

Crime Stoppers is a registered charity and community volunteer organisation working in partnership with the Queensland Police Service.

For all non-urgent police reporting or general police inquiries contact Policelink on 131 444 or Policelink.qld.gov.au 24hrs a day.
