If you’re currently in Year 10 and have a buddy (friend) and an adult parent/guardian to join you, then you could fill the seats!
What seats?
Seats as passenger Road Safety Observers in a Driver Training Instructor vehicle.
Why?
Young people will become future drivers and parents/guardians may like some refresher information. Sadly, we also know there are too many fatalities and serious injuries on our roads and as a community we need this to stop.
Bundaberg PCYC have arranged a two hour session filled with plenty of opportunities to learn about road safety, identifying traffic hazards, risks and a visit to Bundaberg Transport and Main Roads and Bundaberg Police Station.
Local accredited Driving Instructors will take the group of Road Safety Observers on a predetermined route of local roads and areas. During this time the group will assess certain traffic intersections, signage, learn about previous traffic crashes and a chain of events that led to the incidents as well as discussing ways these crashes could have been avoided.
- Time: 9:00am – 11:00am; 12:00pm – 2:00pm; 2:00pm – 4:00pm
- Date: Friday, April 8
- Venue: Start and finish at Bundaberg PCYC 48 Targo Street, Bundaberg.
- Cost: FREE
Year 10 Road Safety Observers will then take on a role as a Road Safety Observer Ambassador within their school and promote road safety from a young persons perspective during local campaigns.
To book your seat, please contact Tienne Lindeman at Bundaberg PCYC on 4154 2813 or tienne.lindeman@pcyc.org.au
Expressions of interest are due in by April 1.
This initiative is funded by the Queensland Government Community Road Safety Grants Program.
