Bundaberg police nearly had the job no one wants last night.
Our communications team received a number of phone calls from concerned community members about the manner of driving vehicles by some motorists.
Police intercepted a 17-year-old Bundaberg North man driving a 2006 Silver Holden Commodore sedan. The man was intercepted around 10:50pm on FE Walker Street, Bundaberg South after being detected with a speed of 148km/hr in a 60km/hr zone.
The driver was issued with a traffic infringement notice for $1099 and eight demerit points.
Senior Sergeant Erwin Hoffmann, Officer in Charge Bundaberg police said the attitude of the driver is frustrating and showed no consideration to the rest of the community.
“This is a ridiculously high speed, and without the intervention of police could have resulted in fatalities. People that commit such brazen acts have no concern for the welfare of the rest of the community and are putting their own and their friends lives at risk,” said Senior Sergeant Hoffman.
