Uniforms are on, bags are packed and we’re ready to go.
To be road safety ready for school…
- Fatigue creeps up on drivers, so keep alert at all times no matter how short the trip.
- Drink and drug driving is inexcusable and has been responsible for so much death, injury and heartache. Stay hydrated with cold drinking water.
- Seat belts can improve your chance of surviving a serious crash, so buckle up at all times. Ensure children are restrained correctly and children up to seven years of age must be secured in a child restraint, according to their age and size.
- Distraction and Inattention are dangerous. Anything that takes your attention away from driving on the road is a distraction and can lead to a crash. It only takes a split second to lose your concentration, so turn off your phone so you won’t be tempted and put it in the boot.
- Speeding is one of the major killers on Queensland roads. Around half of all speed related fatalities happen at just 10km/h or less above the speed limit. School zones are 40kph to keep everyone safe.
