To be road safety ready for school…

  1. Fatigue creeps up on drivers, so keep alert at all times no matter how short the trip.
  2. Drink and drug driving is inexcusable and has been responsible for so much death, injury and heartache. Stay hydrated with cold drinking water.
  3. Seat belts can improve your chance of surviving a serious crash, so buckle up at all times. Ensure children are restrained correctly and children up to seven years of age must be secured in a child restraint, according to their age and size.
  4. Distraction and Inattention are dangerous. Anything that takes your attention away from driving on the road is a distraction and can lead to a crash. It only takes a split second to lose your concentration, so turn off your phone so you won’t be tempted and put it in the boot.
  5. Speeding is one of the major killers on Queensland roads. Around half of all speed related fatalities happen at just 10km/h or less above the speed limit. School zones are 40kph to keep everyone safe.
