There’s a good chance you do.
Motorcycles are a common form of transport frequently seen on our roads and motorcyclists need to keep safe too.
Sadly, motorcyclists form a percentage of fatal traffic crashes that police and emergency services attend. Policing research indicates Saturday to be a key day these crashes occur. Could this be due to riders going for a recreational ride and feeling tired? Is the ride on a Saturday a way of getting outdoors after a busy week?
Road safety is everyone’s business, so today, Saturday and everyday, please assist police in reducing road trauma and keep alert for motorcyclists.
Increasing motorcyclists visibility to other road users is recommended as a way to reduce being involved in a crash. Other suggestions from Transport and Main Roads include:
- dress to be seen by choosing gear that maximises your visibility—such as bright coloured clothing (yellow, orange and red) that stands out against most backgrounds
- wear a reflective or fluorescent vest
- use reflective strips/tape on your clothing or motorcycle.
